The Dynalap is a unique eight string lap steel guitar that we believe is almost guaranteed to become a cult-classic. Here's why:

These guitars are hard to come by because their creator, a cabinet builder named Mark, temporarily ceased production due to an over-abundance of popularity that he was not able to satisfy due to his other obligations.

The setup is very simple; the guitar has one single coil pickup, one tone knob, and one volume knob. This guitar features a string-through body, meaning you re-string the guitar by putting the strings in the back of it.

The construction is flamed maple and walnut wood, and the wood on the fretboard is completely inlayed. This provides for a nicer build of the guitar overall. The wood of our sample Dynalap Model 2 is finished with amber lacquer to give it color, and clear nitrocellulose lacquer for overall quality.

These guitars are destined for cult-classic status for a number of reasons: many were hand-made by Mark in the USA. These were usually the deluxe version, which included brass volume knob, tone knob, nut, bridge, and tuners.

However, many of them were made from kits, meaning each one is unique in some way. Because production of the kits he has stopped at the moment (Fall 2010), you can usually only find the guitar in its completed form on the used market.

But if you do happen to find one, prices will usually fall into an affordable $300-$450 price range, and many that we've seen for sale include a gig bag. We highly recommend these guitars for bang for the buck and sound quality, as you'll see and hear in the video below.
